Description

PDS™ II Absorbable Suture, Violet, Size 3-0, 27", with RB-1 Needle, is a monofilament synthetic absorbable suture composed of polydioxanone. It is designed to provide extended wound support while minimizing tissue reactivity. The violet coloration enhances visibility during placement, and the monofilament configuration ensures smooth passage through tissue, reducing trauma and drag.

This suture features a Taper Point Needle with a 1/2 circle curvature and a 17 mm length. The RB-1 needle is engineered for delicate soft tissue approximation, particularly in subcutaneous closures and internal surgical sites where minimal tissue disruption is critical. The suture is especially useful in procedures requiring reliable, long-term support during healing.

PDS™ II maintains approximately 80% of its original tensile strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks. This controlled strength retention allows the tissue sufficient time to regain natural integrity before the suture begins to lose its mechanical function. The absorption process is complete between 183 and 238 days through hydrolysis.
